Homework Tips for Parents

Homework is easier for students whose parents take an active interest in it. Aiding in doing homework doesn't necessarily mean spoon feeding your children and being stuck at their study tables for hours. It simply means that parents can devise ways of demonstrating skills that help students organize themselves better. Additionally, parents can simplify a tricky question for them or even encourage them to take a break or two. It’s not just a learning experience for the children but the parents too. So, what is it that the parents can do to make homework easy for their kids?

Know what the teachers are expecting:-

Parents should always make it a point to meet the teachers of their wards whenever there's a school event. Parent-teacher meetings are a good platform to know about the school’s policy regarding homework.  It is best to ask questions and ask how you can be more involved. Best Day Schools in Noida like Genesis Global School have transparent policies that can help parents and the school to provide 360 degree support to its scholars.

Ensure a homework-friendly environment for your child:-

This includes making sure that the place they study is well lit. A sturdy study table with ample lighting and storage allows the scholar to create his own space and be comfortable while studying. Also, make sure that their supplies are well stocked and handy. Keep a box with pencils, erasers, sharpeners, glue in reach always.

Make a proper study routine:-

Each scholar is different from the other and so is their study pattern and timing. There are some  who perform better in the early morning hours , followed by snacks and play time whereas others may prefer staying up late post-dinner and putting in some time.

Help them make a plan:-

Help your children manage the time at their hands and plan accordingly. For example, during days when the homework is more than others, help your kids make a timetable. This way they'll be able to divide their homework into more do-able and manageable parts. Additionally, you can ask them to take a break after every hour for having a snack or recreation.

If your child still struggles with homework after following the above-mentioned tips then you must connect with the teachers of the school and devise a more customised and suitable plan for the scholar.

Why Join a Student Council?

When it comes to schools, most of the times, the students regard it as a boring and tedious place filled with tests and homework. But, in reality there are a lot of activities that happen here that even the students are often unaware about. With the right encouragement from teachers and parents and a will to do something beyond just studying, students can find a plethora of activities that will not just allow one to take a break from studying but also prove beneficial in terms of overall development.

One of these areas that students can pursue is that of joining the student council. These days one can find that any good day school in Noida or Delhi would have a student council, which is essentially a council that is made up of students. And these students through this council learn important skills like leadership, team building and being responsible.

Most students go for the more known areas like sports or theatre or creative writing, and do not really know the importance of being a part of a student council. The members of the council create and execute programs either on a class level or a school level and each member has specific duties that they have to fulfil. The programs that these councils hold earn a good reputation not just for the school but for the students themselves too.

A major reason to join such a council is that is appears extremely favourable on both college and future job applications. There is a reason that any reputed public school in Noida or Delhi is incorporating this activity into their list of areas where students must participate in. Being in one teaches students about holding a position of authority and how to utilize it to its maximum potential.

Stay in touch with your long-distance friend

We are devastated if our best friends move to a different city. Probably all of us have been through this ordeal some time or the other in their lifetime. You certainly can’t let go of your bond due to distance, can you? You would have to come up with ways in which you are still in touch with your best buddy like you always were.

My best friend and I were together since our childhood days in a public school in Noida. It was like we never needed anyone if we were with each other. Our school days passed as if it was a collection of our countless memories and we were together all the time. At school, after school and on our way to school! We had to discuss everything with each other. Our closeness was often envied by our siblings as we were visibly closer to each other than our own siblings!

Childhood days

All hell broke loose when she was sent to one of the renowned boarding schools in India for higher studies. We were devastated. But as the time of her departure came close we planned to be in touch with each other in a way we don’t miss our time together much.

Talk everyday
Be it over calls or message. We had to be in touch every single day. It is weird because every day you don’t have something special to share, but we found peace in telling each other about our daily routine and I was anyways excited to know about her new school.

Video chat once a week
We made it a point that any one day of the week we would make time to video chat with each other, even if that meant during our exams. We religiously followed that. We did not get that ‘feeling’ of chatting up with each other unless we saw ourselves. She showed her room and introduced her room-mate too over video chat!

Never hide anything
Concealing thing from your best friend can ruin the bond. So we promised we won’t hide anything from each other. We shared every single detail of our lives and we still remain best friends!

-Research well
Do your bit by asking around or looking out for reputable schools. Ask some experts, if possible. Ask for accredited schools. You can easily go with some Top Noida International School.

-Visit and interview
You won’t get a preliminary sense of the kind of school that it is unless you visit it and meet the staff. Meet and have a word with the director. Ask him about the fees, the curriculum and the vacation schedules. Notice how the director or the staff handles your questions and trust your gut feeling with how you feel about the school.

Also visit the classrooms and observe how students are taught in the school and how teachers interact with the kids. Make sure that the teachers are encouraging and friendly.

Teaching as a profession

genesisglobalschool :- top schools in India
In a myriad of contemporary career choices, one of the most ancient professions still hold its head high; teaching is still one of the most respectable professions in India. The teachers are the sculptors of our future society. The teachers of today are framing the personalities of future policy makers, corporates and various members of the society. However, the career challenges and lack of growth and financial returns have lately demotivated the youth to take on this socially responsible and reputable line of work.

The majority of educational institutes acquire an exploiting approach towards its staff. Besides few top schools in India none of the institutes really care about their staff. The entire cost cutting efforts are implemented on the salaries of its staff. They recruit staff on low pay and the student teacher ratio is very high. This makes it very rigorous for a teacher, and he is not able to focus on the individual growth of children. This also increases the stress level, thus, encouraging unmotivated and lethargic staff. This has caused a huge drop in the number of youngsters aspiring to become a teacher. This has also reflected on the career growth in this line, apart from the quality of education being imparted.

However, this approach is changing with increasing awareness amongst guardians and institutes; especially in the metropolis. People demand for experienced and qualified staff before enrolling their children. Hence, some of the top public schools in Noida and other metros have acknowledged the importance of well-equipped faculty. They know that the holistic growth of a student depends on the quality of education being imparted and teachers leave an impression on the future personality of their students. A teacher builds up the conduct and character of its students, by inculcating the understanding of the world, and not only curriculum. Moreover it is the approach of a faculty that popularizes these institutes amongst guardians. They entrust the teachers with the responsibility of their ward and not the institute. It is them whom they recognize personally and can connect with; so the kind of teaching staff employed reflects directly on the popularity of the institute. Hence, they are recognizing the impedance of an experienced faculty.
