How to Make Your School Best In the Industry?

The most widely acceptable criterion to choose a good school is the test scores of its students. Of course, test scores are important but they’re certainly not enough. There are various factors that one considers before finalizing the right school for your child.

Here are the Characteristics To Make Your School Stand Out of All:

  • Effective schools have a warm climate.
Students should be attracted to the warmth the school provides.  Students feel welcomed and know they are taken care of by the staff. The pressure to perform certainly exists, but it comes in a way that promotes learning, with an expectation that students will excel and the support is provided to make it happen. Best day boarding facilities in Delhi share this trait.

  • High Expectations from the School, teachers, and students
Quality in terms of everything is extremely important.  The school should have a passion for excellence. A good school has an involved staff working together, pushing themselves and their students to be the best.

  • Dedicated Teachers
Dedicated teachers keep evolving themselves thus improving their ability to teach. They add to their skill set by reading and exploring the techniques used by their seniors and contemporaries to better themselves and their skill. Effective teaching demands that the teacher is knowledgeable in the subject area. The teachers in the day school for kids must have a detailed understanding of what is being taught.

  • Effective Discipline
Discipline should never be compromised. Students must understand school and class rules and expectations, and adhere to them. Also, students should respect teachers and other students.

  • There is a Variety of Instructional Techniques
The best schools all over the world know that two classes or two students are identical.  It ensures different instruction to best help students to understand better. Key concepts are presented in ways to enable visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners grasp it.

  • Individualized Instruction and Approaches to Students
Students’ abilities and needs are different. To effectively teach all students, the school staff must understand this. The teaching and interactions with students must reflect the needs of each, with the understanding of each as individuals.

These are the various characteristics of a good school one must take into account while admitting their students in school.

Why the Concept of ‘Learning by Doing’ Should be Introduced in Schools

A lot has been said for the idea of experiential education but a little has been done about it. Education is an active constructive process, not something that can be passively absorbed. Some may say that students would be able to learn more if they are simply told about it as opposed to actually performing the activity.

However, students, as a matter of fact, learn better when they are actively involved in the activity they are performing. This concept has gained attention in recent years and a lot of boarding and day boarding schools in Delhi NCR and other cities have begun to incorporate this knowledge into the learning process.

A need to know more should be created for students. Such an environment facilitates learning. Students acquire a new set of skills and truly understand what they have learned. In a classroom, this can be achieved by asking students to prepare presentations or oral defense activities. Such activities require students to share what they have learned; displaying the knowledge they have gained.

Another way to facilitate the learning process would be to give students the opportunity to take a shot at non-routine problems. An example of this would be to give a student a math problem that has a no method for finding the answer. When faced with such obstacles, students become thinkers as they engage themselves in the problem to find the solution, in turn creating their own method.

It’s imperative that teachers understand their role as facilitators and not purveyors of knowledge. Students need to be given space wherein they discover the answers to questions in ways that they need. In this way, they will learn to make meaning of a situation by themselves. This does not mean however that teacher eliminates themselves from the equation but simply encourage student ideas as well.

It is important that schools realize that the onus of learning should be placed on the student. The curriculum of international schools often incorporates this line of thinking. International day boarding in Delhi can be considered by parents looking to enroll their child in a school that focuses on learning by doing. After all, education is not an affair of telling or being told.
