What makes me think to go back to boarding? (part 2)

In conjunction to my previous post" titled as ‘What makes me think to back to boarding?’ here I am to share some of the interesting stuff about my experience at boarding school. I am certainly not against any public schools in noida, Delhi, Gurgaon or any other places, there are some of the best top schools in india and many of my friends and cousins are studying, it’s just that i am a little varying from fun and sports, we were asked to wake up by 4’o clock, which otherwise i couldn’t afford to think. I would say I was not an excellent student, but yes, i was an average one and could manage to score about 80-85%. Unfortunately, no matter how much hard work i did, i ended up scoring less in maths. But a big credit goes to our teachers who were life savior from that nightmarish subject. In my boards, my aggregate percentage was 81.3% and i scored 74% in maths, which was more than enough for me.

It wasn’t allowed to have gas burners in room, we were naughty enough to cook Maggie without permission. The day whenever we were caught, we were levied fine against the same. We had a great canteen and were given tangy food to delight our taste buds, but come-on how can school or college days go without doing such crazy things. Now when i am working as a content writer in a private based firm, no single day goes when i don’t miss those carefree days. Though friends meet up over weekends, there’s altogether different feeling and affection that’s there and will remain forever.

What makes me think to go back to boarding? (part 1)

I am from Genesis Global School and as my title itself connotes, ‘What makes me think to go back to boarding’ I don’t want anyone to feel bad over it. I thoroughly enjoyed at my boarding and would say those were the best days of my life. There are tons of things that make me miss my boarding even today.

To be honest, it was not that smooth journey altogether at the first place, but after few days, eventually, i was lucky enough to be surrounded with lively and chirpy friends all around me. No matter how strict the rules are, once you are at boarding school in india, you tend to break rules. At the end of the day, if I say in a student’s language, ‘rules are meant to be broken.’ Well…i am a no exception to it. For few days, i missed my home, mum, dad and everyone, but I’ve personally experienced it that as soon as you have friends at best school in india, you tend to avoid feeling home-sick. Well…i have a tons of interesting stuff to share with esteemed readers of the blog, but want to save all those stories till i come back with a new post altogether. Till then stay hooked to this blog!

It happened one day at work in best boarding school

boarding school
Let me admit from my experience of being a family man, being a working couple and having to manage a kid is not a job you would love. It leaves you as vulnerable to being slapped with a ‘careless parent’ tag at home as a ‘madman at work’, sometimes both.

I have lost count of how many screw-ups playing dad at work has translated into. From being caught in the middle of a meeting catering to a cranky child to evading smug grins when giving away futile baby talks, I have seen it all.

But the tipping point came when my neighbours called me up at work one day saying some obnoxious smell was coming from my house. That’s when I started to sweat frantically thinking of my six year old, meant to be in at the time. I dashed off right away not caring to think even for a moment that I was to hold a crucial assignment meet the next hour.

I hurried back home with all sorts of insane thoughts up my mind. After barging in, I immediately got hit by a strong nauseating smell which had filled up the entire area. It was obvious-- the gas line was rendered leaking and the culprit was tucked away in his bed sleeping. It was then that I brought out my swiftest piece of action in killing the mains, turning the gas off, and throwing the windows open.

It took some while and a long glance at my sleeping boy for my breath to be back. Pheww! Wasn’t it relief!! As my palpations gradually started slowing down, something I had been thinking about for a while suddenly started making more sense—boarding school.

The very next day I got the best residential schools in india listed down and settled out on one of the best boarding schools around. Three years on, I can safely affirm that’s one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Breaking barriers to bridge gaps in education

It is the age of globalization and we and our children have learnt to distinguish the things that are Indian and the things that are foreign. With increased movement of people around the globe, it has become necessary to set up international schools that cater to the needs of the children of the staff of international businesses, international organizations, foreign embassies, missions, or missionary programs.  Thus began the need for international curriculum such as that of the International Baccalaureate or Cambridge International Examinations.

There is a paradigm shift in the curriculum of the International schools. These schools focus on allowing children to become global citizens by providing holistic educations into multiple languages and cultures. The students appear for exams under the University of Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).

The International schools in noida cater to foreign students and to Indian students who wish to take the IGCSE or IB exams. It allows for transferability of the student’s education across international schools. The faculty consists of teachers trained specifically for an international syllabus or for teaching a foreign language to students.

International schools in noida offer what some of the best boarding schools in india can provide, and beyond. The boarders are provided with comfortable and secure stay which is an additional advantage to the students. The dining section has multinational cuisine to suit the palate of the foreign students. Raising the bar to be at par with international standards the international boarding schools in india are like ’A home away from home.’

Is Your Child Staying Away from You? Surprise Him with A Gift- 1

Are you a parent and your child is staying away from you at a boarding school India? And has it been quite a while since you have last paid him a visit? Then buying him a surprise present can be a great idea to pamper your kid.

surprise your child with gifts

Children who live under institutional care still miss home and family, even when they have adjusted to the vibrant atmosphere around them. Every child would yearn to meet his family once in a while. Though, when school’s curriculum doesn’t allow that in midterm and your own schedule is too busy to accommodate a visit in between, a nice present as a token of your love can really delight your child. Special occasions can be marked by a loving gift or mundane days can be transformed into one. A prom night, an achievement in class tests, commencement of final exams, prior to any important competition or any random day; receiving a gift from you will make him feel as if you are keeping a track of his life events. I remember when I was studying at Noida international school and my parents used to do that for me, I just loved it. So, I would strongly suggest that every parent should adopt this idea.

Though, sending them an apt gift can be quite a challenge. They grow up fast and their choices are so fickle that it gets hard to decide what they would really like. Moreover, boarding schools India have very strict rules for inmates so you should choose a gift that he can keep with him while complying to the hostel rules. Anything too costly or fancy would not be allowed; moreover, such a gift is likely to induce feelings of disparity amongst inmates. So, you really need to be very particular of what you send. Read on my next blog to find some nice gift ideas for your child.

Stationary- If your child has a particular nag for art or calligraphy then a set of required gears can be a nice gift or even otherwise you can always present him with some nice stationary items that are an integral part of school life. A vintage pen from Dad can make an occasion like prom night or board exams stand out in memory lane.

Books- It is in middle school that most children fall in love with the world of books. He can even get bitten by the writing bug, like I was, when I used to study at international school india. It is the sweetest bite that will enhance the personality of your kid in long run, so make sure you make your due contribution. Gifting some good classic literature or any genre of your kid’s choice is a great idea. If he has just begun reading then I would suggest something of Agatha Christie would be perfect.

Customized Gifts- Customized gift items can be an excellent gift to make your child feel special. Photo mugs, t-shirts or pillows can be an excellent gift to make him feel connected to the family. You can also gift him stuff with inspirational quotes. I got a t-shirt with me and my brother’s handprints on it with our initials under it, which I have preserved till date.

Family photo- This can be an excellent gift to beat those nostalgic moments, while he stays away from you at a boarding school in India.

Cool Clothes- All children like to show off amongst their friends. Give your kid a chance to do that with new cloths whenever you feel it is necessary.

Gift Vouchers- At least once in a year you can spoil your child by giving him the liberty to purchase whatsoever he wishes, obviously under your supervision and within a restricted budget. Congratulate him if he makes a good choice, or incase if you don’t like what he bought you can suggest him how he could have made a better use of the assigned money. This will teach him to make the best use of available finances, securing value for money deals and to make a worthy choice even when temptations are open to make a bad one.

So, I hope you could choose a gift from this piece, or at least it was able to give wings to your imagination.
