Importance of physical activities

Gone are the days when the parents and teachers were solely concerned about the children’s academic performance. The role of physical activities in a child’s development cannot be overemphasized. With the never-ending innovation in technology, it is becoming increasingly difficult for parents to entertain their children without the use of smartphones and tablets. When my 6 year old cousin visits my place with his mother, I find it impossible to keep him busy otherwise. While technology has indeed made our lives easier, it has certain negative implications too. I see less and less students involved in outdoor activities with each passing year. This trend needs to be changed.

This is where the top day schools for kids come into the picture. Not only do these schools take good care of the kids, but they manage to keep the little ones away from the tablets and phablets, even if only for a short duration. Good schools follow a holistic approach to education by emphasizing equally on physical education and extra-curricular activities. The same cousin of mine goes to one of the best day scholars in Noida and has already learnt the basics of swimming and skating. These activities have given a proper direction to his overflowing energy that earlier used to make his mom go crazy. There is no need to explain the numerous benefits of physical activities, but I have briefly mentioned some of them anyway:

  1. Children involved in sports would be fitter than those who prefer indoor activities. Kids who dislike exerting themselves in outdoor activities face an increased risk of obesity.
  2. Such activities also improve the emotional well-being of children, helping them stay happy and focused.
  3. Children active in outdoor sports have better coordination skills.
  4. Developing a keen interest in sports at a tender age helps them stay healthy throughout their lives.

There are many other benefits that can be derived from sports. Participating in physical activities would immensely help your child in the long run!
