Homework Tips for Parents

Homework is easier for students whose parents take an active interest in it. Aiding in doing homework doesn't necessarily mean spoon feeding your children and being stuck at their study tables for hours. It simply means that parents can devise ways of demonstrating skills that help students organize themselves better. Additionally, parents can simplify a tricky question for them or even encourage them to take a break or two. It’s not just a learning experience for the children but the parents too. So, what is it that the parents can do to make homework easy for their kids?

Know what the teachers are expecting:-

Parents should always make it a point to meet the teachers of their wards whenever there's a school event. Parent-teacher meetings are a good platform to know about the school’s policy regarding homework.  It is best to ask questions and ask how you can be more involved. Best Day Schools in Noida like Genesis Global School have transparent policies that can help parents and the school to provide 360 degree support to its scholars.

Ensure a homework-friendly environment for your child:-

This includes making sure that the place they study is well lit. A sturdy study table with ample lighting and storage allows the scholar to create his own space and be comfortable while studying. Also, make sure that their supplies are well stocked and handy. Keep a box with pencils, erasers, sharpeners, glue in reach always.

Make a proper study routine:-

Each scholar is different from the other and so is their study pattern and timing. There are some  who perform better in the early morning hours , followed by snacks and play time whereas others may prefer staying up late post-dinner and putting in some time.

Help them make a plan:-

Help your children manage the time at their hands and plan accordingly. For example, during days when the homework is more than others, help your kids make a timetable. This way they'll be able to divide their homework into more do-able and manageable parts. Additionally, you can ask them to take a break after every hour for having a snack or recreation.

If your child still struggles with homework after following the above-mentioned tips then you must connect with the teachers of the school and devise a more customised and suitable plan for the scholar.
