4 things every boarding school student would relate to

There’s no denying that boarding schools go a long way in working toward the overall growth and development of children. While day schools also strengthen students on academic front, boarding schools boast of making the students more independent, responsible and confident toward life in general.

The thing about boarding schools is that they prepare the students for all kinds of situations and hardships. From staying away from the comfort of their homes to making their own decisions and choices- students somehow learn to live by .their own.

Some of the day boarding schools in Noida also follow the footsteps of a full time boarding school and make the students stand ahead of their counterparts in all aspects. Here are few things that a student of boarding school would relate to.

Genesis Global School

•Early rising: This is one principle that all types of boarding schools religiously follow. These institutions make the students wake up really early and also engage them with several exercises and workouts. These things help the students stay fit and also give a kick-start for their daily activities.

•Table etiquettes: The kids from boarding school learn a lot about table etiquettes during their stay at schools. Since all the meals take place inside the school premises, table manners are something that’s naturally fostered into these kids. From learning the servings of dishes and drinks to understanding the placements of forks and knives, these kids know it all.

•Organized: Boarding schools teach the kids to stay organized with everything. These kids would always keep their belongings in an orderly arrangement, and messiness is the last thing that these kids would ever exhibit.

•Ever ready: And finally, a boarding school kid would not take time to get ready for something. Because they’re exposed to multiple activities, these kids are ever ready to take up daily courses and challenges.

Known as one of the best international schools in Noida, Genesis works in the same direction and helps in the overall development of kids.

Why Join a Student Council?

When it comes to schools, most of the times, the students regard it as a boring and tedious place filled with tests and homework. But, in reality there are a lot of activities that happen here that even the students are often unaware about. With the right encouragement from teachers and parents and a will to do something beyond just studying, students can find a plethora of activities that will not just allow one to take a break from studying but also prove beneficial in terms of overall development.

One of these areas that students can pursue is that of joining the student council. These days one can find that any good day school in Noida or Delhi would have a student council, which is essentially a council that is made up of students. And these students through this council learn important skills like leadership, team building and being responsible.

Most students go for the more known areas like sports or theatre or creative writing, and do not really know the importance of being a part of a student council. The members of the council create and execute programs either on a class level or a school level and each member has specific duties that they have to fulfil. The programs that these councils hold earn a good reputation not just for the school but for the students themselves too.

A major reason to join such a council is that is appears extremely favourable on both college and future job applications. There is a reason that any reputed public school in Noida or Delhi is incorporating this activity into their list of areas where students must participate in. Being in one teaches students about holding a position of authority and how to utilize it to its maximum potential.

How to pack for your kid’s school trip

Schools organize several educational as well as leisure trips to give students a fun-filled break from their studies. These school trips go a long way in keeping the kids youthful and lively. Not only do these trips come as a welcome break from the monotonous routine of the children, they also give students a chance to build closer bonds with their classmates and experience newer environments.

But just like all other kinds of trips, school trips also require wise packing. This responsibility goes straight to the parents, especially if the kids are too small to know what’s important for them. If you’re a first timer and are wondering about the essentials that you must keep in your kid’s bag pack, here is the checklist you should consider.
school trip

•First aid kit: You must pack a small first aid kit for your kid for all the small scratches that he might experience during the trip. Although most of the day schools for kids make first aid arrangements on their end for different kinds of mishappenings, pack a personal one for your kid containing things like bandages, pain relievers, antibiotic creams and antiseptics.

•Daily items: Do not miss out on things that your kid uses on daily basis. Pack tooth brush, tooth paste, towel, soaps and slippers.

•Cheap accessories: School trips of course are not the best platforms for showcasing jewelries and accessories. Make sure you do not overload your kid with too much to take care of. Keep only what’s necessary- a cheap waterproof watch and an inexpensive digital camera for example.

•Writing pad: And finally, keep a lightweight journal and some pens so that your kid can jot down his memories when he wants to.

So whether your kid is enrolled in one of the child day schools in Noida or in a boarding school in Gurgaon, you know how to pack for his upcoming school trip.

Does a Boarding School Teach Students to be Independent?

A school holds almost as much of an important place as does one’s home. Till the age of four or five, a child spends all their time within the comforts and safety of their home. The school is, for a child, the first contact with the outside world and education is also given a lot of importance within the society and it is even a fundamental right of every child till the age of fourteen to get free and compulsory education.

The experience of going to a school, however, teaches one more than just the basic knowledge they need to get a job. It also teaches students on how to behave in the outside world, socialise, experiment in different areas, learn of one’s talents and eventually develop on an over-all basis resulting in a well- adjusted being.

The boarding school, which in Indian culture has evolved from the ancient concept of a Gurukul, is where students stay apart from their parents and pursue their education. There are residential schools in India that are known worldwide for their education standards.

Now, in terms of giving the best education, is it considered that boarding schools are better than day schools, one of the reasons is that being independent is something that a boarding is best at teaching its students. When children are away from the safety net of their parents, it urges them to be more disciplined and responsible for their actions.

From having to take care of one’s own class projects and homework, balancing out extra- curricular activities and living a long distance away from parents, all work towards making a child self- sufficient.

That is one of the main cause of their popularity; that it builds strong and capable individuals that do not need to depend on anyone else.

There are many boarding schools in Noida like Genesis and more that provide good residential facilities and education on a global level.

Here, you’ll find some of the top international and public schools of India, known for offering quality education to children of all age-groups. Whether you want to send your kid to a playschool, nursery or higher class, Noida has some of the best educational institutes affiliated to CBSE and ICSE.

Public schools in Noida have excellent infrastructure and experienced teaching staff to ensure complete development of the child. Kids are given a liberal atmosphere where they are free to grow and learn at their own pace. Sports and cultural programmes are organised often which help kids to showcase their talent. To make learning interesting, especially for the little ones, schools incorporate fun methods of teaching. Moreover, teachers give equal attention to each and every child and appreciate his/ her work which makes the learning process even more interesting.

Day care schools: Yes or No?

Working parents with young children, especially toddlers, are often torn between sending their child to a day care school or making an arrangement in their work schedules which ensures that one parent is always with the child at all times. Despite the flexibility being provided to young mothers nowadays, parents find it extremely difficult to make such arrangements in the fast-paced work life. Also, there are many cases where it becomes necessary for both parents to work in order to sustain their livelihoods as well as providing quality education to their child. So quitting is not an option. Due to growing popularity of nuclear families, there is often no elder to take care of the child nowadays, unlike earlier times. Hence, parents are often left with the only option of sending their child to a day care school.

However, others believe that these early years are crucial to a child’s development, and hence a child should never be left under the care of a day care centre. So what is the solution? Should one opt for a day care centre or not?

Frankly, it is a personal choice and varies from person to person. There is no right or wrong per se. It’s all a matter of beliefs and perceptions, and making the most out of every situation. Personally, all my cousins have been to the same day care school in Noida and have fortunately turned out quite well. While the love and attention provided at day care centres cannot possibly match the love and attention given at home, sending a child to a day school can turn out to be quite beneficial if the school is good. Being in an environment with other kids, social interactions right from a young age, doing activities together etc. can be highly enriching for the child and can hence leave a deep positive impact on the child. Spending time with other kids and not watching television during those few hours again is highly beneficial for the child. Plus they get to learn so many things that they might miss on by staying at home.

Genesis Global School

However, just as you would choose one of the best public schools in Noida or elsewhere for your child, it is important that you choose only the best day care school in your vicinity for your little one, even if you may have to pay a little extra.

Day care schools aren’t bad and can greatly contribute to your child’s development if you just choose the right school. So make your decision carefully!
