Does a Boarding School Teach Students to be Independent?

A school holds almost as much of an important place as does one’s home. Till the age of four or five, a child spends all their time within the comforts and safety of their home. The school is, for a child, the first contact with the outside world and education is also given a lot of importance within the society and it is even a fundamental right of every child till the age of fourteen to get free and compulsory education.

The experience of going to a school, however, teaches one more than just the basic knowledge they need to get a job. It also teaches students on how to behave in the outside world, socialise, experiment in different areas, learn of one’s talents and eventually develop on an over-all basis resulting in a well- adjusted being.

The boarding school, which in Indian culture has evolved from the ancient concept of a Gurukul, is where students stay apart from their parents and pursue their education. There are residential schools in India that are known worldwide for their education standards.

Now, in terms of giving the best education, is it considered that boarding schools are better than day schools, one of the reasons is that being independent is something that a boarding is best at teaching its students. When children are away from the safety net of their parents, it urges them to be more disciplined and responsible for their actions.

From having to take care of one’s own class projects and homework, balancing out extra- curricular activities and living a long distance away from parents, all work towards making a child self- sufficient.

That is one of the main cause of their popularity; that it builds strong and capable individuals that do not need to depend on anyone else.

There are many boarding schools in Noida like Genesis and more that provide good residential facilities and education on a global level.
