BOARDING SCHOOLS- A DEVELOPMENT TOOL

Many people believe that living in a hostel is necessary for discipline and academic excellence. Therefore, many parents with affordable means prefer their children to join a boarding school to their studying in a day-time government or public school. One of the many reasons given for this preference is the extremely busy schedule of both the parents. This forces them to part with their children, when they are young, and send them to boarding schools. The children might acquire a sense of homesickness and loneliness in the beginning but sending the kids to boarding school is a great long term perspective because boarding school indeed teaches values such as social adjustment, leadership, initiative, and sharing quite effectively. The long term benefits of sending a child to a boarding school are sure to make a deep impact on his career and life. Boarding schools have great facilities for overall- child development.  The child is taught to make his general decisions there- choose his companions, find his own time to study, mix with all kinds of students and face day-to-day problems on his own. The best boarding school is the one where a child becomes less dependent on others and gains a sense of autonomy. Children that pass out from boarding schools are better at adjusting to all kinds of situations because they are exposed to all kinds of environment and are made to survive even in the adverse conditions.

Some of the boarding schools in India offer multiple extracurricular activities for the development as well as enjoyment of the children. Some of the boarding schools of North India have programs for rock climbing and mountaineering. Some of them offer a grand campus and world class facilities to acquire unmatched reputation. On the whole, boarding schools act as tools of self-development in the life of children.
