Day care schools: Yes or No?

Working parents with young children, especially toddlers, are often torn between sending their child to a day care school or making an arrangement in their work schedules which ensures that one parent is always with the child at all times. Despite the flexibility being provided to young mothers nowadays, parents find it extremely difficult to make such arrangements in the fast-paced work life. Also, there are many cases where it becomes necessary for both parents to work in order to sustain their livelihoods as well as providing quality education to their child. So quitting is not an option. Due to growing popularity of nuclear families, there is often no elder to take care of the child nowadays, unlike earlier times. Hence, parents are often left with the only option of sending their child to a day care school.

However, others believe that these early years are crucial to a child’s development, and hence a child should never be left under the care of a day care centre. So what is the solution? Should one opt for a day care centre or not?

Frankly, it is a personal choice and varies from person to person. There is no right or wrong per se. It’s all a matter of beliefs and perceptions, and making the most out of every situation. Personally, all my cousins have been to the same day care school in Noida and have fortunately turned out quite well. While the love and attention provided at day care centres cannot possibly match the love and attention given at home, sending a child to a day school can turn out to be quite beneficial if the school is good. Being in an environment with other kids, social interactions right from a young age, doing activities together etc. can be highly enriching for the child and can hence leave a deep positive impact on the child. Spending time with other kids and not watching television during those few hours again is highly beneficial for the child. Plus they get to learn so many things that they might miss on by staying at home.

However, just as you would choose one of the best public schools in Noida or elsewhere for your child, it is important that you choose only the best day care school in your vicinity for your little one, even if you may have to pay a little extra.

Day care schools aren’t bad and can greatly contribute to your child’s development if you just choose the right school. So make your decision carefully!
